Yvette joined Piper Communications as the Strategic Communications Director in March, 2020.  Her expertise and background is public relations and communications with a commitment to innovation and results.   

She is a U.S. Marine veteran with experience in classified materials, casualty assistance and public relations. Her military service includes support of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.  

After active duty service, the El Paso, TX native transitioned to radio sales at KTSM AM-FM/TV where she began filling in as a Weather Anchor, which launched her television career. Her journalism career also includes experience in producing, reporting and anchoring at six television stations over the course of sixteen years, including WBIR-TV in Knoxville. 

As Regional Community Relations Coordinator at the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT), Yvette managed public relations opportunities in 24 East Tennessee counties to include crisis communications, proactive community outreach and strategic marketing for upcoming projects.  

While at TDOT, Governor Bill Haslam appointed Yvette as Press Secretary for his inaugural year in office.  In this capacity, she managed media interviews, traveled the state to coordinate gubernatorial events, developed strategies for cabinet members and fellow communications colleagues and created content for speaking engagements.  

In 2012, Yvette was appointed as Assistant Commissioner of Intergovernmental and External Relations at the Tennessee Department of Veterans Services where she recruited and managed a team of transformational employees committed to customer service, legislative relations, veteran education and employment, learning and development, legal services, data and research, innovative business solutions, talent management, casualty response, communications, public relations, marketing and branding.  

She is married to John and they have two children, Brandon and Bailey.
